History:

Cozy Corners Bed & Breakfast was established in May 2012. Upon acquisition of the home, our innkeepers knew it would be too much home for just the two of them to live in themselves. So being semi-retired, but not quite ready to slow down, they decided to turn the home into a bed & breakfast.

Our innkeepers are Darlene and William "Chip" Schwickerath. Darlene was born and raised in Sumner, Iowa. Her parents Willie and Luella Meyer were farmers who spoke German and learned English over the years. They had fifteen children of which Darlene was number twelve.

William "Chip" was born and raised in New Hampton, Iowa. His parents were Ray and Virginia Schwickerath. Ray served in the Army during WWII and Virginia taught in a one room schoolhouse. Together they had six children of which Chip was number three.

William and Darlene met at "Chip's Ballroom" in Lawler, Iowa. They were married in 1977 and have lived in New Hampton ever since. Together they have four children and three grandchildren. Over the years they have successfully owned and operated a freight & warehousing business, a beauty shop, a reception hall as well as managed office & residential rental properties. Cozy Corners Bed & Breakfast is their next big adventure!

"I always thought that it would be fun to run a bed & breakfast, to interact with new people and to share my stories and recipes with. When this house presented itself to us, I knew in my heart that I wanted to take a shot at the B&B Business. So, here we are! We hope that you get a chance to come relax as a guest in our new home; and know you will check out at the end of your stay recharged and with some new friends to boot!"
